If you really like to travel, then rather than going the kennel route you might prefer to take your dog with you. And a good pet dog bed will make it easier for you to keep your faithful companion by your side. Depending on the mode of travel or how comfortable your dog is at sitting free in a car, there will be different options for the pet while you’re en route. When going somewhere by plane, you’ll have no choice but to use a crate, but even in a vehicle like a car or truck, dog crates provide some security. Once you actually arrive, though, you might want the dog to sleep in its own special bed.

Making the bed compact is important with your limited space. One possibility is a small dog bed you can roll up and slip into a fabric pack, the same as a sleeping bag. These durable beds are machine washable too, which would take care of the wear and tear from traveling. A fold-up dog bed is another option for compact beds. This sort of bed is usually made of several foam panels that can be opened out into a comfortable mattress at night, and then folded back into a small bundle. It usually has a strap or handle, so you can carry it to your next destination.

Or you may prefer to lodge your dog on a pet dog bed that more closely resemble an actual bed. Consider a cot, for example, with a sturdy plastic or metal frame. Not only can it be put together and taken apart fairly quickly, but it can even be more comfortable if you’re in a tent where the ground underneath might be cold, uneven and have things jutting up. This is a bit of dog bed furniture that can fit any lodging situation, allowing air circulation underneath in hot weather. As another bonus, this kind of bed provides extra support for older or arthritic dogs.

However, the crate may ultimately be the best choice for a pet dog bed when you are traveling, especially if your dog is already used to sleeping in one. The point is to keep your companion both comfortable and safe. The dog may be used to roughing it, or may have special physical needs you need to take care of. The kind of pet bed you take with you, if you take any at all, will be determined by all these factors. The important thing is for both of you to have a worry-free trip.

She can change our homes into a style you never imagine possible.

All breed dog grooming is for professionals, that is a fact! A dog owner will usually learn how to groom his/her pet according to the breed specificity, but an expert needs training to handle all kinds of dogs of different breeds and sizes. Classes and courses are necessary to get qualification for all breed dog grooming. Over the years, plenty of schools have been founded and certification can now be obtained online too, as part of long-distance training programs. In case this alternative works for you, then, the trainer you pay for the classes should be accredited.

Once the all breed dog grooming training is complete you can move on to the next level: starting your own business. Vet centers, rescue centers, kennels and local groomers service local neighborhoods. A first difficulty with all breed dog grooming is equipment, because you’ll have to buy a fully equipped grooming table that comes with all the accessories, since only such a tool is designed for the needs of dogs of all sizes.

The rest of the equipment items are equally important. All breed dog grooming requires a comprehensive set of hair brushes, combs, grinders, clippers and the rest, so that you can handle any grooming task successfully. Skill and experience are the advantages that win customers’ trust and loyalty. Be prepared to groom different types of dogs, but hairy ones in particular. The explanation is very simple: a pet owner cannot groom a thick-haired dog at home because of the very the nature of the dog’s coat. There is a lot of work for such cases, but there is more money too! It is neither easy nor cheap, hence, everybody has something to gain.

Lots of books have been publish under the very same title of ‘All Breed Dog Grooming’; they are usually written by people who have experience in working with animals and who can share their tips and knowledge with others. Even so, keep in mind that an All-Breed-Dog-Grooming book will not qualify you for doing the job and opening a business. The part with the professional training we’ve mentioned above stays valid. There is no business without authorization, and that should be your main concern! Take a look at designer backpacks, how to dunk, designer backpack.

Not everybody can afford to constantly pay for professional dog grooming, which is why lots of people cover this pet care at home effectively and safely. Here are some dog grooming tips that can help you enjoy your pet’s look without having to pour money into other people’s pockets. Unfortunately, with more special breeds, home grooming is a nightmare.

Brushes have to be well chosen to match the hair thickness and length. Two brushes should be enough if you get the right ones. Read some dog grooming tips to see which items are more suitable for your dog’s coat. Check pictures and then find the items either at the local pet store or directly online from various dealers.

You can also learn how to clean the pet’s ears by reading professional dog grooming tips. Hair, wax and dirt make a very unpleasant combination building up in the ear canals and thus reduce the auditive acuity of your pet. Pull out the long hair and thus prevent the wax from accumulating. Use some special accessories that you put on the fingers when gripping this hair, because both scissors and the naked fingers can cause damage to the tissues.

Find Best Selling Dog Grooming Clippers in our Dog Grooming Tools store.

Clipping toenails is another challenge, and many home dog grooming tips can help you with it. Pet owners don’t like long claws because dogs can cause damage to the floors and carpets by scratching. You’ll just need a pair of nail clippers and a few dog grooming tips about how to cut the nails without hurting the dog and keeping the discomfort minimum. Read online materials and even ask the veterinarian for recommendations.

Pay special attention the eyes as well, particularly stains appear under the eyes because of tears. While some breeds are prone to tearing, with others, tears are a sign of an existent medical condition. A bit of hydrogen peroxide in warm water should reduce the discoloration on light colored dogs but you have to be extremely careful and not get too close to the eyes. This is not a standard dog grooming solution, but rather an improvisation that could prove a very bad idea on certain occasions.

Otherwise, with a little care and interest, you can implement many dog grooming tips successfully for your pet’s well being. Keep in mind the fact that grooming needs to be performed regularly, and that you should have time to take care of it every week. In the absence of proper care, nails and hair condition deteriorates rapidly, do not neglect their importance for your dog’s well being.

A dog grooming business can be difficult to grow when you want it functional fast! Good advertising and marketing strategies are the way to promoting a business efficiently. A dog groomer is supposed to love animals, that is more than part of the job, but he/she also needs to make the potential customers aware of the benefits of your working on their dogs. First of all, where is the advantage of professional services over home grooming? Ask yourself this question and you’ll know how to attract customers. The advantage of professional work is that the pet owner can get a job well done, while saving time and effort.

Specialized equipment and a good work environment are essential for a dog grooming business. There are mobile grooming services too, with the groomer coming to the client’s home. Skills are essential for the success of a good dog grooming business. The National Dog Groomers Association organizes special tests, and on their basis it provides accreditation. Then, in order to have a good qualification for this profession, you should be able to understand animals and their personalities.

Buy Affordable Dog Grooming Kit in our Dog Grooming Tools store.

A wet slippery dog may not be easy to work with, but with gentleness, patience and experience things should be just fine. A dog grooming business has to be trustworthy in order to become profitable. Clients’ loyalty grants you the advantage of free advertising. If you have pleased customers, more people in the neighborhood will be knocking on your door for services. Provide special prices for small sized dogs or for short-haired breeds, as these categories are often neglected. Bonuses and discounts may help you promote the dog grooming business as well.

Keep in mind that a dog grooming business is client oriented, and in time you will learn how to improve services. Suggestions could be very welcome from clients, vets and technicians. If you talk to the veterinarians in the neighborhood you may be able to place some fliers with them and even get the chance of being recommended. The classifieds in the local newspapers and the Internet could also make a difference for the success of a dog grooming business. Marketing tactics should emphasize your grooming skills and experience, coming up with solutions for all sorts of clients.

While German Shepherds may not inspire the ill-placed fear of such breeds as Rottweilers and Pit Bulls, they do land on many banned breed lists.

German Shepherds have, throughout the years, had a reputation of being aggressive. That reputation, while not entirely accurate, is based on some truth. While German Shepherd aggression is, in some small part, genetics, the main cause of ill manners is caused by the owner.

It would be wrong to think that this trait of inappropriate aggressive behavior is displayed by all, or even most, German Shepherds. It is wholly unfair to let the misdemeanours of the minority result in the entire breed being labeled as “dangerous” or “aggressive”.Still, all owners of these dogs should be aware that it may potentially be a problem and, as such, should learn about and try to recognize the signs of German shepherd aggression.

So, what forms can aggression take? Some German Shepherds will be aggressive only towards other animals. Some will only become aggressive if a person or animal approaches them while they are eating. Others act aggressively towards humans – mostly strangers, but in some cases even towards members of the family of the household that they are living in.

Don’t discount even minor forms of aggression, say to a cat or the postman, because these could easily escalate into something more serious. If you do notice signs of aggression in your dog, proper training and handling can turn the behavior around and, potentially, save your dog’s life.

Some owners make the mistake of yelling at or hitting their German Shepherd when he displays aggressive behavior. For the most part, this makes the overall situation worse, as the dog becomes less trusting of humans.By doing so, you are also placing yourself and those around you at immediate risk – it is quite possible that your dog will fight back on being hit and will starting biting and leaping at those nearest to it.

Obedience training is a much better solution for dealing with German shepherd aggression. The best results are seen with younger dogs, but don’t let the age of your dog put you off from trying it at any time. Even old dogs can learn to be obedient, it just takes a little more time.

Chasing, whether it be cats, cars or even people, is something most dogs love to do. Unfortunately though, despite dogs that chase generally not actually hurting whatever it is that they chase, they still can cause themselves or others some harm in the process.

Allowing your dog to chase anything is an irresponsible thing to do. Behavioral problems like chasing are more than just annoying. Solving this problem is possible though, but it will take some effort to correct.

It is not as simple as just yelling at or hitting your dog after it has chased something. You might think that doing this would make it less likely to do it next time, but it rarely does. It’s instincts will kick in again next time around and the pain it suffered last time will be soon forgotten. Taking a proactive approach, rather than a reactive one, is much better.

The very least that you should is not let your dog be in a situation that allows it to chase in the first place. With dogs who regularly chase after things, this may mean having to keep it on a leash or within a fenced yard. Until you have learnt to predict your dogs behavior and have trained it obey your commands, this must be done to ensure no danger comes to your dog or those who share an environment with it.

Recognizing what your dog does immediately before it starts chasing something is the most important step. Some dogs give an indication when they are about to chase something. Right before they chase something, the dog usually stares or becomes very still before they take off. However, there are some dogs that don’t give you any indication before they take off.

To stop a dog from chasing, it needs to learn to obey your commands. At the very least, your dog needs to respond to two – sit down and come here. It will be much easier to stop your dog from chasing once he understands and responds to these.

So, how do you train a dog to obey voice commands? First you need to find something that the dog really likes, such as a toy or treat. Place your chosen item 10ft from the dog and wait for it to start approaching it. Then either command it to come or sit down. After it has done what you want, say okay and let it have the toy or treat.

Get a friend to help you, once it has mastered this part of his training. Your dog should be standing or sitting by you, then your friend should past waving a toy or treat in their hand. Should the dog start to chase then give a firm command to it to come back to you or to sit down. On obeying your command, give it the reward. Should it ignore you and continue to chase then be sure not to give it a reward, even if you feel sorry for it.

Patience is necessary, but, with a little persistence, this approach always works. Remain positive and determined and you should have the problem solved within a week.

Many pet owners prefer dog grooming home solutions to professional grooming; in times of financial crisis any saving is welcome. There are advantages and disadvantages about dog home grooming, since the grooming activity is time consuming. Statics show that short-haired small breeds are the most compatible with dog grooming home conditions. Special-maintenance breeds are a different thing, and without professional hair, a pet owner can hardly cope with dog care.

Another issue with dog grooming home solutions is equipment. Anyone who grooms the pet at home needs a minimum of supplies and tools for the operation. Grinders, brushes, clippers and even a grooming table represent the basis for efficient home grooming. Scissors and combs are optional, although on many occasions they are a must. And finally, let’s not forget about the special dog shampoos meant to kill flees and ticks or keep them away. Dog grooming home practice comes with the responsibility for the pet’s health condition, therefore, don’t take it lightly.

Find Affordable Dog Grooming DVDs in our Dog Grooming Tools store.

Look for tips and suggestions to learn more about dog grooming home challenges. The vet may provide recommendations on how to care for special breeds or how to handle an injury under the pet’s fur. When left untreated or neglected because they are not noticed in time, lots of apparently harmless bumps on the dog’s hair could become real health problems. Thorough cleaning prevents skin disease and keeps the animal in a great shape. Pay the same attention to the nails, teeth, eyes and ears as you pay to brushing and bathing.

Nail trimming is necessary at least once a month, depending on how short you cut the dog’s claws. When cutting too short, vein injuries may be caused; hence, be extremely cautious during the procedure. Dog grooming home care therefore requires lots of patience: you have to treat the dog gently because few pets like their paws touched. In fact, you need to take breaks while nail trimming and offer small treats to your dog. We can thus conclude that dog grooming home practices are really time consuming even if money saving. The choice is all yours!

A growing number of communities are organizing dog parks for local pet owners. There are areas designed for exercise and areas designed for socialization. Some of these parks are organized by a consortium of dog owners who just want to provide designated spaces for their pets to roam freely. In other cases, they are for-profit enterprises. The group which operates the facility often serves as a liaison between owners, the city, and zoning authorities.

In this article, we’ll describe the advantages that your canine will enjoy by visiting dog parks as well as a few advantages that you’ll gain. We’ll also explain proper etiquette and the rules of engagement between you, your pet, and others.

How it Benefits Your Canine

As a pack animal, a dog is naturally inclined to seek out companionship from other dogs. Long ago, that need was fulfilled through herding and hunting responsibilities. Today, canines are often kept indoors, which prevents them from interacting with other pets and people.

When you take your pooch to a doggy park, you’re giving him an opportunity to spend time with his own kind. The socialization is valuable. He can roam freely and play with other pets off-leash, an experience that is all but impossible outside these specially-designated spaces. He can also enjoy physical activity. Many dogs are denied the proper amount of exercise, which takes a toll on their physical and mental health. This is one of the reasons pooches often become obese or ill-mannered.

How it Benefits You

As many benefits as your canine companion enjoys at these facilities, there's also plenty of value for you. You’ll have a chance to meet and socialize with other people who have brought their own pets. It’s not uncommon for long-lasting friendships to emerge over time as owners plan weekly visits. Also, if you're unable to take your dog for walks (due to age, disability, etc.), this type of facility offers a practical alternative.

The Rules

In order to ensure these doggy parks remain open to the public, it’s important to abide by specific rules of etiquette. First, make sure that you clean up after your pooch. Second, never leave your canine unattended. You must be present in case there is a need for you to restrain or remove him from the premises (for example, if he gets into a fight with another dog). Third, if you bring young children to the facility, prevent them from chasing the animals. The behavior might be interpreted as a threat, which can trigger an aggressive reaction.

Dog parks offer a valuable opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. You’ll also provide him with a useful outlet through which he gets the exercise he needs in order to stay healthy. As your dog enjoys playing with his new friends you will have a chance to talk to other dog owners. Most people discover that the experience is beneficial for both them and their canines.

Since when did it become OK to carry pets in business hire cars? I’ve just returned a hire car that my colleagues and I used to get home from Heathrow and it was filthy with dog hair and smelled more like a kennel than a car.

Don’t misunderstand me. I really love animals but I don’t like having their fur all over my business suits. My family has a number of pets including a cat, dog, several fish and even a wild hedgehog that loves cat food. Me and my family all love animals. But when I tried to book a hire car for my family and pets I was told that there were no suitable vehicles.

On further investigation I ultimately found a car hire firm that did accept pets but only in certain vehicles (estates) and the animals had to be secured behind the back seat. This was perfectly acceptable to us and made a lot of sense.

You can therefore imagine how I was surprised by the car provided by a well known international car hire firm at Heathrow airport. My workmates and I had booked our hire car in advance before departing from Frankfurt on an evening flight back to Heathrow. We collected the details and keys from the desk and headed for the parking lot. When we opened the car door it was clear, from the pungent doggy aroma, that it had been occupied by a smelly dog. Not very nice at all.

I was about to return to the desk to complain but one of my colleagues was keen to get going so off we went. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized my suit was covered in what appeared to be white dog hairs.

Whoever had used that car immediately prior to us had clearly allowed a dog to roam freely on the seats and upholstery. When I got in touch with the car hire firm they apologised and told me that they don’t allow dogs or cats in their normal saloon cars so someone had broken their rules. The previous driver had clearly broken their rules and they hadn’t managed to valet the car before picking it up. The result was a bill for having four suits cleaned.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In future we’ll be driving to the airport and using airport parking services rather than rely on smelly hire cars. Top tip: Always make certain that you have adequate travel insurance before you go anywhere.
