One of the most common issues with dog owners is puppy crate training. Don’t feel horrible if this is you, take some credit for moving in the proper direction.   Some dog owners just feel that it is something that they have to live with, having a new puppy, and the dog will eventually “grow” out of it. For me, I believe that this is a lazy way of thinking! Taking care of your dog is a huge responsibility and you will have to learn the correct rules for taking care of it!

In the world today, there are plenty of ways easily accessible to you to learn how to take care of your new puppy the correct way. Right now we will try to go in the proper direction.   You might not do everything perfectly but what matters is direction not perfection.   Remember with learning any new skill/method, patience is key, especially with the new addition to your family.

Now, let’s get started with some basics of puppy crate training. Why we should use a crate to housetrain our puppy is where we will start. They are pack animals similar to wolves which in the wild always use a den to bring up their offspring. Growing up this way, compels them to feel comfortable and relaxed in a den. When they age they naturally pick a den to go to sleep as opposed to getting exposed to dangers in the open area. This can be a dug out section of a hill or underground, it will provide safety and comfort.

It is also the puppy’s instinct from mother nature not to use it’s den for relieving itself and keeping it clean. We as people can use this behavior as an advantage when puppy crate training. Anyway, if you happen to be someone who doesn’t like having your puppies in crates, you are actually going with nature in providing a den with security.  Puppy crate training is a safe humane way to house train your puppy quickly and effectively.
