Facts about a Dog Bark Shock Collar

New dog owners are sometimes unprepared to deal with common problems of newly adopted or bought dogs, such as excessive barking or barking at the wrong time. One of the most common solutions for this problem is using a dog bark shock collar, although the word “shock” alone is enough to scare some people.

Dog owners have to realize that dogs understand things like “punishment” or “reward” in a different way that humans do. Unless you try to ‘correct’ or ‘punish’ your dog at the very time it is miss-behaving, it will not know why you are acting the way you are. That word ‘punish’ is something else that new owners take offence at but they do not realise that a dog can be very seriously ‘punished’ simply by the tone of the owners’ voice. For example, scolding the dog or shouting at it for several minutes might make the dog miss the link between the bad behavior and the scolding.

Does a Bark Collar Work?

A dog bark shock collar delivers a calculated static discharge when barking is occurring. The shock is fast and instantanenous and it happens at exactly the same moment the dog incurs in bad behavior. With enough time, dogs eventually learn to refrain their barking so that they can avoid the punishment. In reality, the dog is not ‘hurt’ by the shock, it is confused and ‘forgets’ to bark while trying to work out what happened.

Trainers agree that shock collars aren’t cruel, but helpful when trying to teach your dog to behave; and with time, the dog learns to avoid the shock completely.

No dog bark shock collar should be used for more than half an hour or so each day and then, only at times when barking would be a nuisance. Dogs are very smart animals and no more want to be punished than any other animal or person. A dog’s bark collar comes with instructions, and if you just follow them, your dog will stop inconvenient barking in no time.
