Solving Dog Training Problems

There are so many dog training problems, and most of them are due to the dog owner just not knowing the right way to go about obedience training his dog. Most of us end up making the same types of mistakes when trying to train our dogs. We end up with pets that are only half trained and who only listen when they feel like it.

These training mistakes occur primarily because people try to communicate the wrong way. Many of us tend to talk to our pets as if they were people instead of dogs. Many people really spoil their dogs. Dogs are like our kids in that they need lots of guidance to learn good behaviors and to find their place within the family order. If you started your dog training without any real understanding of how to properly obedience train your dog, it is only natural that you will end up with less than terrific results.

Even without the benefits of a spoken language, dogs still are able to express themselves very well to other dogs. Dogs use a variety of different vocalizations as well as distinct body languages in to express themselves to other dogs.

You can avoid many of the common dog training problems by first learning from a good obedience training book about dog psychology and dog body language. Train your dog correctly from the beginning, and resolve many dog training problems before they even start.

If you have adopted a dog with existing behavior problems, or have incorrectly tried to train your pet, it is still not too late to retrain him using good techniques. There are several good positive  dog training programs on-line, any of which will provide you with a step by step program to train your dog. Every good program that I have reviewed  features only positive training techniques in their course. These positive methods teach you the value of using positive reinforcement -praise and rewards from the trainer when the dog correctly does what it is commanded to do.

You will learn from a good program how important it is to become the alpha dog. You will be taught how to use your vocal tones and confident body language to communicate in a language your dog can understand. By becoming the alpha dog yourself, you gain your dog’s respect, trust and confidence. Once you have become the alpha dog your dog will become eager to follow your lead and do as you want him to.  Becoming the Alpha leader doesn’t mean intimidating or yelling at your pet. Actually, becoming the Alpha leader is mostly about projecting the right attitude to your dog.  It is a dog’s basic nature to try to please the alpha dog of his pack. If you can establish yourself as the alpha dog, you will be on your way to solving your dog training problems.

It is easy to see all the dog training problems that are the result of incorrect training or from neglected training. These are the common problems such as when a dog jumps up on people, barks incessantly, acts aggressively or isn’t potty trained properly. By making  a consistent effort and using the right techniques you can correct these problems. Several short training lessons every day are needed to get good results with the obedience training. This is especially true when trying to correct dog behavior problems that have existed for some time. None of these problems begins overnight, so likewise it takes some time to overcome the problem.

The good news is you can resolve pre-existing dog training problems, once you have a good book or video program to learn the correct techniques from. On the other hand, if you are training a new puppy, you have the opportunity to avoid any dog training problems in the first place. It doesn’t matter if you are training a puppy or an adult dog, always use the knowledge provided by a good dog obedience training system if you want to get good results and avoid behavior problems.
